Why do I need it?

Calcium helps to Strengthen bones and teeth, also phosphorus forms the framework of the skeleton. A deficiency in calcium can result in osteoporosis. Calcium is also a natural tranquiliser, soothing irritability and aiding sleep.

Where can I find it?

The most widely available sources are milk, cheese and yoghurt but green vegetables are also good sources, as are fish such as sardines and whitebait. For those who cannot tolerate dairy sources it is a good idea to look for calcium enriched foods such as cereals and soya milk.

The RDA for calcium is 700mg for adults.
