This stage offers the last real opportunity for attacking riders to get a win, so no doubt an early break will go. The route isn?t entirely flat with two categorised climbs early on and then the rest is rolling to the finish but it will probably still end in a bunch sprint; especially if the green jersey is close.

STAGE FACTS

? Since 1953, Montluçon has appeared five times in the Tour.

? The last time a stage finished here Serge Baguet won – in 2001.

? 1956 Tour winner roger Walkowiak was born in Montlucon.

? This year and last year there were three road stages (not including time trials) after the final mountain stage. Two were won from breakaways.

? The only post-mountain stages in the last six years to have gone to a sprint were on the Champs Elysées.
