Although the first 150km are relatively flat and easy, with only a couple of fourth category climbs, this stage then becomes a lot harder. Within the final 70km there are two first category climbs to really mix things up and cause some damage. This stage could affect the overall classification but the final descent and run-in will give dropped riders a chance to close time gaps.

? It?s the fifth time that Bagneres de Bigorre has hosted a Tour stage finish. The first was in 1952 and the last was in 1965.

? Bagneres de Bigorre has been used more as the start of a stage ? nine times.

? The Col d?Aspin appears on the Tour route for the 68th time and the Col de Peyresourde has featured 59 times.

? Only the Col du Tourmalet (76 appearances) and the Col d?Aubisque (71 appearances) have been used more times than the Aspin.

? The last time both climbs were used in the Tour was 2006.
