Bicycle theft has long been in issue in the UK, particularly in the cities. It is estimated that the average value of bikes stolen in the year 2015-16 was over £450, a rise of more than £200 in the last 10 years.

There are simple steps that can be made in order to keep your bike safe and secure.

  1. Use two good quality locks – the London Cycling Campaign suggests you spend at least 10% of the value of your bike on locks.
  2. Use bike stands and racks where possible.
  3. Lock your bike through the wheels and the frame.

Sterling offer a range of high quality padlocks and locking cables to suit all, from the everyday commuter to the weekend rider. To ensure that your bike stays in one place Sterling is giving away 5 bike security kits. Each kit includes an LED combination locking cable, a Sold Secure D-Lock and a self-coiling security cable, all worth over £50 each.
