Career synopsis: After winning National Titles at U14 and U16 level, Thomas started to take cycling more seriously, and in 2004 he won silver in the points race at the European Championships as well as the scratch race at the Junior World Championships. In 2005, Thomas joined the Olympic Academy and by 2007 he had signed with Team Barloworld on the road and won a Gold medal at the World Track Championships in Mallorca. Thomas rode his first Tour de France in 2007 and survived to finish. Come the Olympics, Thomas will form an integral part of the team pursuit squad.

Two things you didn?t know about… Geraint, or G to his friends, won the junior version of Paris Roubaix in 2004. He was away with fellow Brit Ian Stannard who turned left in to the Roubaix velodrome instead of right leaving Thomas on his own and riding to the finish line. Thomas became hooked on cycling after breaking a new riders? record with the Maindy Flyers club in South Wales.
