Career synopsis: Cavendish was introduced to the world of cycling at the early age of 12 and made his track debut at the Moscow World Cup in 2004. Since then Cavendish has become a professional on the road and has quickly risen in profile as a sprinter, taking two stage wins in this year?s Giro d?Italia and four in the Tour de France. In Cavendish?s relatively short career, he has also combined his talent on the road with winning on the track, taking gold medals in the 2005 European Championships and at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. The Manxman will only ride the Madison at the Olympics, but has already demonstrated his talent for the event at this year?s Track Worlds.
