Rapha-Condor-Recycling rider Graham Briggs took victory in the opening round of the National Circuit Series at Hillingdon, where he outsprinted home favourite Tony Gibb ? no mean feat!
You?re having a pretty good season, aren?t you?
Yeah, I?m pleased with how things are going. I was pleased to win at Hillingdon, but I think my best result would be my fourth place in a stage of the Tour du Loir et Cher, because the guy who won rode for Discovery and the second-placed guy used to be with CSC, so there were quality guys in that break, and I was mixing it with them.
You had a couple of seasons in France a couple of seasons ago. What happened there?
I was with VC Beauvais, but it didn?t work out. There was no real guidance for me, and I missed home so decided to come back.
What?s it like riding on a team like Rapha-Condor-Recycling?
It?s really good. I thought things would be good when I went out to France, but it was a really amateur set-up, whereas Rapha is great. John is a good manager and everything is taken care of. It?s far more professional than my team in France.
What was your worst job?
During the winter one year I got a job delivering reminders to people who hadn?t paid their TV licence. It took me to the worst places and people in Doncaster, which was very scary.
What was your best job?
Current job working at Don Valley Cycles in Doncaster with a great team. I am very lucky to have an awesome boss who is very flexible.
What would you invent?
Ten-calorie biscuits that taste as good as chocolate HobNobs.
What sport do you find really boring, and why?
Golf, because it spoils a good walk.
If you could have superhero powers, what would they be, and why?
To make every day a dry, sunny and warm day; it?s so easy to get motivated when the weather is like that.
You?re having a dinner party for three guests. Who would you invite, and why?
John Herety, awesome cook; Rob Partridge, for him to tell me the next week?s training; and my girlfriend Sam, otherwise I would be homeless!
What nationality would you like to be, and why?
Definitely Italian, they and their way of life are just so cool.
