Every day during advent we will bring you a video of an inspirational performance by British cyclists from 2015

It’s that time of the year when the calendar flicks over to December and the kids get over excited about the prospect of eating chocolate for breakfast when they open their advent calendars.

Here at Cycling Weekly we can’t offer any chocolate, unfortunately, but we can provide you with daily inspirational videos of great performances in 2015 by British cyclists.

There have been plenty to choose from, so it’s a shame the advent period isn’t a few days longer, but to kick off we’ve got a cracking moment from this year’s Tour de France.

This was the moment that the Tour de France was essentially won by Chris Froome. An attack on the first major ascent on stage 10 saw Froome put over a minute into nearest challenger Nairo Quintana.

With a winning margin of 1-12 by Paris, Froome’s surprise burst up the Col de Soudet in the Pyrenees was decisive enough to allow the Team Sky man to defend his yellow jersey all the way to the finish line on stage 21, having fended off the dual-threat attacks from Movistar pair Quintana and Alejandro Valverde.

Come back on Tuesday to see what is behind door two of our Best of British cycling advent calendar.
