Can you remember who wore the rainbow stripes during the 1970s?

For this week’s cycling quiz we have been back in the archives to search out the men’s road race world champions of the 1970s.

The riders aren’t necessarily shown in the coveted rainbow jersey, and the photos probably aren’t from the year they won it, but we couldn’t make it too easy.

All ten champions (1970-1979) are shown, but the questions are not in chronological order – so Wikipedia shouldn’t be of much assistance here. Some of them are easier to identify than others, but that’s thanks to the profile of the champions shown.

With only Tommy Simpson’s victory in 1965 and Mark Cavendish‘s win in 2011 to date, there are no British riders on the list. In fact, only three nations shared the spoils in this decade, but no rider was able to defend their title.

See which of these past champions you can identify in this week’s cycling quiz.
