Kwiatkowski: I would love to ride next to Chris Froome at the Tour de France (video)

Former world champion Michal Kwiatkowski says he hopes to be part of the Team Sky Tour de France squad in 2016 to get the chance to ride with Chris Froome

Michal Kwiatkowski's main goals at Team Sky may be delivering the British team with their first Monument, but the Pole harbours an ambition to support Chris Froome to more Tour de France titles as well.

It was rumoured that Kwiatkowski was unhappy that Etixx-Quick Step would not allow him to ride the Tour for his own general classification aims, but since joining Sky he has been keen to express his desire to play the domestique role.

While he says the Olympic road race is high on his priorities, he is hoping to get a nod for the Tour de France in the build up to the Rio Games.

Kwiatkowski finished 11th on his Tour debut in 2013, 19 minutes down on Froome, following it up with 28th place the following year after some tough days in the Pyrenees on stages 17, 18 and 19.

He went on to win the World Championships in 2014, winning the Amstel Gold Race last year in the rainbow stripes.
