Darren Kenny set a para-cycling ?athlete’s hour? record at the track World Cup meeting in Copenhagen.

The multiple gold medal-winning Paralympian covered 40.156km in the Ballerup velodrome on a standard track bike to set a benchmark distance.

The 37 year old from Dorset collapsed into the arms of coach Gary Brickley after the effort.

Kenny already holds the absolute hour record, set at 41.817Km in Manchester in 2005, using disc wheels and tri-bars, and now equals Chris Boardman in holding both records at once.

Kenny won four gold medals in Beijing from the the five events ridden, taking silver in the road time trial. He was awarded the OBE in the New Year Honours List.
