One Pro Cycling will race alongside the 18 WorldTour teams at the Tour of Poland in July - the team's first WorldTour invitation
One Pro Cycling will ride the Tour of Poland in July, having been handed their first wildcard invitation to a WorldTour race.
The team, promoted to UCI Pro Continental level for the 2016 season, had a presence in the race last year with Marcin Bialoblocki riding for the Polish national team and winning the final-stage time trial.
Bialoblocki will be wearing the Polish time trial champion’s jersey for the first half of the 2016 season, but will have to defend his title in June if he is to race in it with One in the July race.
One also boast another Polish rider in their ranks, with Karol Domagalski joining from Raleigh GAC
“After close collaboration with the organization of the Tour de Pologne I am delighted that ONE Pro Cycling have been confirmed as a wildcard for what is a fantastic race on the cycling calendar,” said One’s sports director Matt Winston.
“With two strong Polish riders forming part of our twenty rider roster, it’s an honour that we can give them the opportunity to race in their home tour at the highest level in world cycling.
“This will be one of the major focal points of our season and we’re already looking forward to it. I would like to thank the organization of the Tour of Poland for giving ONE Pro Cycling this opportunity.”
Giro d’Italia wildcards Gazprom-Rusvelo have also been invited, with Team Poland, CCC Sprandi, VERVA ActiveJet, Novo Nordisk and Bardiani CSF set to ride alongside the 18 WorldTour teams.
