Here they are: the best videos from the week in cycling
It’s Wednesday again already, so that can only mean it’s time to have a look at the best videos of the week from the world of cycling.
The Tour de France is just round the corner, so we have a look at the top contenders for the overall victory. There’s also a look back at the Women’s Tour, a driver playing skittles with road cones and a ‘see through’ lorry. Enjoy,
Tour de France contenders: who will wear yellow in Paris?
The second best time of the cycling year (tell me the Classics aren’t amazing) is almost upon us, so in mind of the Tour de France’s Dutch Grand Départ on July 4, our in house panel of experts takes a look at the contenders for this year’s Grande Boucle.
Let us know of any outsiders you might have in mind in the comments below.
Another great year for the Women’s Tour
Going from strength to strength, and boosting women’s cycling – and British cycling in general – as it goes, another successful edition of the Women’s Tour drew to a close on Sunday.
Home favourite Lizzie Armitstead’s race got off to the best possible start, before seconds later coming to a painful end. She won the sprint to take the first leader’s jersey, only to crash seconds later and be ruled out of the rest of the race.
Hannah Barnes gave the crowd something to cheer about on the final stage though, as can be seen in this video.
Thomas just misses out on Tour de Suisse glory
However, he fell tantalisingly short of victory in the Tour de Suisse with fifth in the final stage time trial. Even so, he looks set to be a valuable lieutenant for Chris Froome‘s Tour de France ambitions.
Arnie in London
Body builder, film star, former governor of California, and bicycle tourist? Arnold Schwarzenegger says he always uses the hire bikes when he visits London.
Despite the name, was it really Boris who introduced the bikes?
Work is well underway on the new cycle superhighways in London, and as such there are some obvious road works and minor delays. Delays now, but much better transport for all once the work is finished.
This video shows the lighter side of a misjudged manoeuvre, when thankfully the only injuries were to some large road cones.

See through lorry
Technology can be great, and this ‘see through’ lorry could revolutionise some aspects of road safety.
