Catch up with the best videos from the week in cycling

It’s time for videos of the week again. We’ve covered a few bases, including mountain biking – but with good reason.

There’s also some pro racing in the shape of Turkey and Yorkshire, a dangerous commute and a well put together team announcement from Orica-GreenEdge.

No arm? No problem

Well yes, he’s not on a road bike but this is inspirational all the same. Thomas Bannister has modified the right side of his bars to control the bike from just this side, to pretty impressive effect.

Tour de Yorkshire stage 3 highlights

Sir Bradley Wiggins’s first outing for his new team, the Tour de Yorkshire drew the crowds almost as much as its hosting of last year’s Tour de France Grand Départ. Here we’ve included the highlights from stage 3, well worth a look.

The best Giro team announcement you’ll see this year

Famed for its fun videos as much as its wayward bus parking and nurturing of talent from its own country, Orica-GreenEdge has announced its Giro d’Italia team in a way only it can. Crank up the volume for a Beastie Boys remix and enjoy this one in advance of Saturday’s race start.

Wayward lorry driving

The caption of the video pretty much says it all, but this is a timely reminder that it’s the decisions of others that can impact on the safety of cyclists more than their own actions or even the roads they use.

Cavendish left stranded on Tour of Turkey final stage

With three stage wins already under his belt, the British sprinter can’t be too miffed about missing out on another, but the nature of this defeat may have annoyed him.

Here we see Lluis Mas attack on the final small ramp, stringing out the sprinters. Mark Renshaw pulls off with quite a way to go leaving Mark Cavendish riding into the wind with little hope of catching the lone leader.

Agreed – but was Renshaw left too much to do by the rest of the train?

  • dourscot

Renshaw obviously misjudged where the line was, dropping Cav far too early. The other issue was the sharp hill and the winding circuit.
