Video highlights of the action from stage one of the 2015 Critérium du Dauphiné

Peter Kennaugh (Sky) took a surprise solo win at the end of the opening stage of the 2015 Critérium du Dauphiné in France on Sunday.

The British road race national champion defied the sprinters’s teams to take the opening stage win after launching a solo attack in the final two kilometres.

Kennaugh then time-trialled his way to the line to secure the stage victory and the right to wear the coveted yellow jersey of overall race leader going into Monday’s second stage.

Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) brought the bunch home just two seconds behind Kennaugh, with Edvald Boasson Hagen (MTN Qhubeka) in third.

All of the overall favourites finished in the same time as the main peloton, including Chris Froome (Sky).

The eight-stage 2015 Critérium du Dauphiné concludes on Sunday, June 14.
