Michal Kwiatkowski will be looking for two wins out of two in the Ardennes Classics at La Flèche Wallonne on Wednesday

The Ardennes Classics come thick and fast at this time of year, with the second of three instalments, La Flèche Wallonne, taking place on Wednesday, April 22.

World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski had the perfect warmup for the race by claiming victory at the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday, but the tougher climbs of Flèche could play into the hands of the true climbers.

Last year’s winner Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) showed his versatility by taking second place in the Gold Race, while recent winners also include Dani Moreno, Joaquim Rodriguez and Philippe Gilbert.

Indeed, Gilbert won all three of the Ardennes races in 2011, and Kwiatkowski’s form and history suggest the Pole could have the ability to repeat the feat. The Etixx-Quick-Step rider managed third last year and followed it up with third at Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
