Over 1,500 cyclists take part in London flashride
Over 1,500 cyclists took part in last night's flashride in Central London, according to Metropolitan Police estimates.
The ride, which was held to coincide with this afternoon's debate on cycle safety in Westminster Hall, started and finished on The Mall via the Houses of Parliament, the Albert Embankment and Whitehall.
Aided by rolling road closures, participants were able to remain safe while riding along some of the capital's busiest streets during rush hour.
Cycling bloggers Danny Williams (of Cyclists In The City) and I Bike London's Mark Ames were behind the flashride, which was supported by the Times newspaper as part of their Cities Fit For Cycling campaign. Cycling Weekly also joined in with the ride.
