Revolution track series kicks off

Revolution 2012

Saturday night saw the first round of the tenth series of Revolution kick off in the usual sell-out fashion ahead of what should be an exciting season for track cycling.

Local favourite Ed Clancy from Rapha showed his flying form off the back of his Olympic Gold and Bronze medals at the London Games earlier in the year with a very quick win in the Flying lap.

A time of 13.009 beat Jody Cundy's time by nearly a second, setting a precedent for the Rapha boys, who also lead the series with dominant performances in the scratch, elimination and Madison time trial with the help of team mate Andy Tennant.

Owain Doull of Team Howies took an impressive win in the points race over Sky's Alex Dowsett to be the only other team to win an event on the night.

Highlights of round one will be shown on ITV4 this Wednesday [October 31] at 8pm. Lizzie Armitstead will be the guest pundit alongside presenter Ned Boulting.

The already sold-out round two opening its doors on Saturday, December 1, in Manchester. All rounds are now sold-out bar round four, which is being held at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on Saturday, February 2.
