British riders Emma Pooley and Lizzie Armitstead (both Garmin-Cervelo) came away from the Thüringen Rundfahrt stage race in Germany with a stage win and classification leader’s jersey apiece.

Pooley soloed to win stage four and took the mountains classification overall, with Armitstead taking the final stage win on Sunday (July 24) and points classification jersey.

Swede Emma Johansson (Hitec) won the race overall, finishing just six seconds ahead of American Amber Neben (HTC-Highroad) with Australian Shara Gillow in third at 32 seconds. Pooley placed 14th overall, 5-01 behind Johansson.

The seven-day race is ranked 2.1 by the Union Cycliste Internationale.
