Specialbuy event offers some pretty unbelievable deals on clothing and kit. Just move fast to snap them up

ALDI may not be the first place you head to in search of cycling kit, but head down to the budget supermarket this Sunday and you could pick up some pretty unbelievable deals.

After the success of previous cycling Specialbuy events, ALDI has expanded its range for this bank holiday Sunday, introducing a number of slightly higher-priced “premium” products.

>>>Best cheap road bikes: ridden and rated

Perhaps the most impressive piece of kit is the cycling computer, which measures everything you’d expect from a basic computer – speed, average speed, distance, time, etc. – all for the pretty unbelievable price of £4.99.

The premium range consists of men’s and women’s short sleeve jerseys complete with full-length zips (£14.99), SPD-compatible cycling shoes (£24.99), men’s and women’s bib shorts (£11.99), and men’s and women’s soft-shell jackets (£15.99). Cheaper jerseys and non-bib shorts are also available for £7.99.

However if you can’t be convinced to leave your undercarriage to the mercy of a 12 quid pair of shorts then there are some more basic pieces of kit available that should come with fewer risks.

A pair of mitts will be available for £3.49, a saddle bag for £4.99, and sunglasses for £1.99.

But if you want to snap up these deals you’ll have to move fast, as they will only be available in ALDI stores this Sunday 3rd May, and only while stocks last.

I recently bought an Aldi bike computer with a few more attributes at £6.99.

Fiddling with it sat in a swing chair in front of my flat sceen TV, I was amazed to find I was travelling at 3 then 4mph, I quickly accelerated to 38 mph, passed 60 the legal limit for single carriageway roads eventually topping out at 70.1 mph, close to the legal dual carriageway/ motorway speed limit . . . . . . according to the computer!

Apart from a slight sway from side to side, neither me nor my chair moved from my stationary bungalow!
