If your the sort of rider that wants to spend the festive season cooped up on a turbo trainer (and you own the right brand of trainer), then Bkool is bringing a bit of Chirstmas spirit to your pain cave.

After bringing bad weather to the turbo trainer earlier this year, the Spanish brand has given backdrop of its virtual reality software a festive makeover, with a light dusting of snow, Christmas trees (complete with presents) and even snowmen. This background will be in place for every ride until 7 January, although Scrooges can always choose to turn it off.

If you’re not familiar with the Bkool virtual reality system, then it works in a similar way to Zwift, connecting with any smart trainer, controlling the trainer so the resistance is changed to reflect the on-screen gradient. However it will also work with non-smart trainers (as long as you have a speed sensor) allowing you to cruise along and enjoy the scenary without any pesky hills getting in the way.

As well as its software, Bkool also makes two turbo trainers of its own, the Bkool Smart Pro and the Bkool One, although only the Smart Pro offers the level of complexity to allow it to connect wirelessly to your laptop, changing the resistance in accordance with the virtual reality software.
