Topping Specialized’s range of women-specific bikes is the Ruby. 2007 will be the first season that Specialized has produced a dedicated line of women?s bikes. Rather than tuning the men?s range for women?s use, it has started with a blank canvas and developed women specific bikes from the ground up.
Having former international rider Eron Chorney as project manager is a pretty extreme way of ensuring bikes are suitable for racers, but it seems to have worked. As with many Specialized products, the fact that it is designed and produced by cyclists shows.
There are specially designed inserts for STI levers to make them suitable for smaller hands. This gives you some idea of the detail and thought that goes into the products. The handlebars, saddle, chainsets and gearing are all designed by women for women.
