Omnium seeks to bring together the best independently designed cycle clothing from around the world

While it’s easy to track down the Castellis, Raphas, and Santinis of this world at multiple bike shops and online stores, if you want to stand out from the crowd with a more left-field choice of cycling kit, then it can be difficult to know where to start.

This is where Omnium comes in, a new UK-based online store that is to work with independent designers to bring together “the best of independent cycle style and performance from around the world” and make this interesting kit more easily available for British riders.

Although the store has only just launched there are already eight brands signed up (with one more to be announced shortly) with three American and two Canadian brands alongside one each from the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Most pieces of clothing are covered off for both men and women, with shorts, jerseys, gilets, baselayers already in the store, plus accessories like arm warmers, gloves, socks, caps, water bottles, and musettes.

As you can probably guess, the clothing on offer certainly isn’t bargain basement stuff, with the least expensive men’s jersey, for example, being £70. However, this is actually pretty much on par with most performance cycling kit these days, and with most of the items being available in limited runs, it’s unlikely you’re ever going to bump into anyone wearing the same kit.
