If you’re a regular reader of these pages, you’ll know we’ve been keeping an eye on the progress of tubeless tyres.
Wheelsets have been produced, but they haven’t been in line with the development of the tyre brands. Schwalbe could be about to change all that, with the launch of a tubeless version of its stalwart Utremo tyre.
The Ultremo ZX Tubeless, tested by RadioShack-Nissan-Trek, is Schwalbe’s fastest ever tyre, it claims. ‘Fastest’ and ‘safest’ aren’t usually two words we see together in tyre descriptions, but the benefit of tubeless is that rolling resistance is reduced and should a puncture occur, there’s less chance of a sudden loss of air.
Schwalbe Ultremo ZX Tubeless will be available in a promotional twin pack for £113. Packs include two tyres, easy fit mounting solution and Doc Blue sealant. The tyres on their own will be priced at £56.99 each.
