Ben Serotta flew in to London yesterday (November 7) to launch his new range of bikes at the prestigious Haymarket Hotel in London. Serotta, the company owner and founder was on hand during the evening to talk to the press and public about his range of bikes.
Cycling commentator Phil Liggett was another special guest, giving a speech that captivated the audience. The Saratoga Springs based company is a leading manufacturer of hand crafted titanium and carbon frames that started life in 1972. With a staff of just 40 people dedicated employees it produces some of the most beautiful frames you are likely to come across.
Cyclefit distributes these faultlessly engineered frames throughout the UK and hosted the evening’s entertainment.
Serotta offers a fully customised bike, requiring specialised fittings in order to get the perfect fit for the rider. Each fit takes at least two hours, including scrutinisation of the pedalling efficiency in virtual space so that the customer knows exactly how their Serotta will feel out once on the road.
Each tube is custom chosen for your style and weight, and the final finish is up to you. Each bike is so unique, and so taylored that’s it’s unlikely that the owner would ever want to sell it on.
New for 2008 is a new CXII Ti time trial frame featuring Colorado Concept swaged tubes and Serotta?s aerodynamic down and seat tubes. Serotta?s patented ST carbon stay is also added to give a stiff and responsive ride. Cable routing is internal with the option of an integrated seat tube adding to the frames aero profile. But don?t expect to get much change from £3000. (not including the fitting for this frame.)
Also new for next year is a new fork called the S2. Previously, for those not wanting Serotta’s own F3 fork, a Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork would be recommended. The S2, with carbon blades alloy dropouts and crown, gives another option and will retail for the same as the Reynolds at £280 w.
Further in the road range, slight changes to the Ottrott and Meivici have resulted in different versions becoming available to adhere to newer different prices.
