Top of the range Sidi Shot shoe increases its use in the pro peloton
Sidi released a prototype of its new Shot shoe in advance of the Tour de France, where it was worn to victory by Chris Froome. Since then, it’s signed up an increasing number of teams to wear the Shot next season.
Last week, Team Bahrain-Merida announced that the Shot would be worn by its riders next year and Astana has also agreed for its riders to wear the Shot in its team colours.
Sidi says that the Shot is its lightest, most aerodynamic and most comfortable shoe to date. The Shot is made of a synthetic leather, which Sidi says is eco-friendly as well as being water repellent and treated to prevent mould and bacterial growth.
There are integrated mesh areas in the upper to improve ventilation.
The uppers are closed with two wires tightened by ratchet buckles with flip down levers which are mounted on the tongue. Sidi claims that this symmetrical arrangement allows improved closure and better pressure distribution.
The Shot also includes Sidi’s reinforced heel cup and adjustable heel retention system, which feature on Sidi’s other top end shoes and includes reflective inserts for extra vsibility. And the whole shoe upper glows in the dark too.
On the bottom, there’s Sidi’s Vent carbon sole with replaceable toe and heel protectors. There are integral air channels for cooling, which can be closed off in colder weather.
Sidi says that rather than a uniformly rigid sole, it has designed in a small amount of flex in the toe region to help relieve stress on the plantar tendon and improve blood circulation.

The Shot is available to buy in a range of colours including black, white, yellow fluoro and blue and sizes and half sizes between 40 and 48.
UK distributor Saddleback has the Shot currently available in white only, priced at £350 – a £25 premium on the brand’s previous top-of-the-range Wire Carbon.
