Simon Yates and his twin brother Adam are in the Orica-GreenEdge squad for the Critérium du Dauphine, starting on June 5

Simon Yates has been named in the Orica-GreenEdge squad for the Critérium du Dauphiné, starting June 5, despite still being in limbo over a failed drugs test back in March.

Yates failed a test for asthma medication terbutaline at Paris-Nice, revealed in April, but has not been provisionally suspended by the UCI.

Simon will team up with his brother Adam in Orica’s team for the French race, which starts with a mountain prologue in Les Gets, along with Simon Gerrans.

Orica-GreenEdge took responsibility for Yates’s positive test, claiming an administrative error by the team doctors meant that a Therapeutic Usage Exemption (TUE) form was not sent off.

Elsewhere at the Dauphiné, Chris Froome will lead Team Sky along with Wout Poels and Michal Kwiatkowski, while Alberto Contador is present for Tinkoff.

Tour of California champion Julian Alaphilippe will join Dan and Tony Martin in the Etixx-Quick Step team, Romain Bardet leads Ag2r La Mondiale, Fabio Aru heads up the Astana team and current Giro d’Italia leader Steven Kruijswijk is listed to ride for LottoNL-Jumbo.

Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) is one of few sprinters to line up in the race, with only one real opportunity for the fast men over the course of the week.
