This Sunday's (June 22) Beaumont Trophy in Northumberland, one of only four British UCI 1.2-ranked races, features the stars of the Tour series.

Adam Blythe, Yanto Barker, Kristian House and Tao Geoghegan Hart are just four of 140 riders who will tackle the 117 miles (187km) that takes in the county’s undulating terrain.

NTFO Pro Cycling, Madison Genesis, Team Raleigh, Rapha Condor JLT and 100% ME are all sending full teams for the race that begins at 1pm.

The race route is centred round the village of Stamfordham and the bunch will ride one 13.9-mile circuit before progressing to the larger, 22.3-mile circuit which they will ride four times and tackle the climb of Ryals. The race will finish with a second and final lap of the smaller circuit.

Won by Bradley Wiggins twice, as well as Russell and Dean Downing, the race is part of the Virgin Money Cyclone weekend that is hosting a series of rides across the county and in Newcastle.
