The Etape Xtrem - one of the UK's hardest sportives - is due to open for entries this Monday, with 400 people already registering their interest
One of the UK’s hardest and longest sportives, the Etape Xtrem, is due to start accepting entries this coming Monday, September 1 for its 2015 event. And with 400 riders already registering their interest, the 100 places up for grabs are certainly going to go quickly.
Sponsored by Chain Reaction Cycles and organised by Always Aim High Events, the event is the longest one day cycle sportive in Europe, covering three routes over 226 miles and 3878 metres of climbing. It runs as part of the already established Etape Eryri in Snowdonia National Park, taking on all three of its routes; – the 76 mile Canol followed by the 103 mile Mawr, finishing with the shorter 47 mile Bach route.
Participants will be able to tackle the challenge between 4am and 10pm (18 hours) on June 14 next year, with the ability to hold at least an average of 13mph throughout the ultra-distance event.
Speaking about the event, Always Aim High Events manager, Rob Samuel said: “The Etape Xtrem is going to be absolutely immense. We know that it’s going to attract some of the hardiest and toughest cyclists from around the country and even the world and we love it!
“Like all Always Aim High Events participants, the riders of the Etape Xtrem will be fully looked after, with mobile support teams and food necessities provided around the course. Not only will Xtrem riders get a sense of accomplishment unlike any other but they will also get their hands on an exclusive Etape Xtrem Salomon t-shirt and a bespoke Chain Reaction Cycles goody bag.
“To get over 400 people to state their interest in entering the event is just amazing! We thought it might be popular but we didn’t expect this!”
