Whether they're needed or not, we've seen a number of jackets with integrated lights hit the market in the last year or so. But if something like the Lumo Regents Parka jacket just isn't bright enough, then you might be interested in the Noor America jacket, which is claimed to be the "world's brightest cycling jacket".

Ok, so if you're going for an understated look, then the Noor America jacket probably isn't for you, but there's no denying the fact that the 250 LED lights that are placed across the jacket should mean that you aren't left unnoticed by other road users.

The new jacket certainly catches the eye

All of those LEDs are also put to good use with the jacket's turn signals, which are controlled using a remote which can be mounted on your handlebars when riding. Power is provided using a 12V battery, which can also be used to charge your phone if you're riding during the day.

The jacket also feature six different pockets (including one for the battery), removable sleeves and hood, and a fully waterproof outer layer.

Noor America is currently looking for crowdfunding on Kickstarter, with the rather ambitious aim of raising $99,500 (£70,000) in just 30 days. If you choose to support the project, then you have the opportunity to buy the jacket for just $159 (£111), 27 per cent less than retail price, or if you're really feeling supportive, then $4,000 will not only get you a choice of four different jackets, but also a holiday in San Diego.
