When Strava released their end-of-year personalised animations for each of its users, it wasn’t just regular cyclists like you and I who got involved. A few professionals checked out their vital statistics as well, including FDJ’s Thibaut Pinot.
While it was a bit of a troubling time for the Frenchman in the Tour de France – finishing 16th overall, following a series of mishaps, but winning up Alpe d’Huez – his numbers from the season were still mightily impressive.
Compared to the zero I picked up, Pinot smashed his way to an incredible 417 KOMs last year – all the more impressive when you consider the ridiculous talent he’s up against.
In total, the 25-year-old. who podiumed at the Tour in 2014, rode 23,469km in a shade over 722 hours, climbing 380,928m in the process.
Unsurprisingly, his ride up Alpe d’Huez on the Tour’s penultimate stage gained him a fair few KOMs, given that there are about 100 segments on the climb, but October 4 at the Giro di Lombardia also proved a fruitful day, with 44 KOMs picked up.
How do you compare with Thibaut’s totals?
