When it comes to social media and fan engagement, Orica-GreenEdge are probably the best and that’s in no small part thanks to Dan Jones’s Backstage Pass series.
Well shot, excellently edited and always worth a watch, these videos get you in amongst the action of the WorldTour.
The episode from Mathew Hayman’s victory at Paris-Roubaix may never be bettered, but every video is pretty good all the same.
For this outing, Jones himself is on DS duty behind Sam Bewley on the Giro d’Italia‘s mountain time trial. Bewley is a domestique and his only aim for the day is to finish within the time limit, while the team concentrates on leader Esteban Chaves.
Listen to Bewley’s feedback on Jones’s radio chat, which is probably the funniest part of the video.
Focusing back on Chaves we get an insight into the instructions he was given as he limited his losses to overall leader Steven Kruijswijk (LottoNL-Jumbo) and moved into second on GC after Astana leader Vincenzo Nibali’s day to forget.
