A motorist who was filmed launching a foul-mouthed tirade against a cyclist in London has been fined and sentenced to a three-month curfew.

Scott Leaver was sentenced to a three-month 8am-8pm curfew and fined £85 after pleading guilty to common assault and public order offences at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court.

The sentence relates to an incident near East Putney tube station in August 2016, a video of which has recently been posted online, in which Leaver is shown shouting at a cyclist and trying to grab a camera off his helmet.

The cyclist, identified only as Mike R, was attempting to move out to ride around a stationary bus when Mr Leaver, driving a blue Mitsubishi 4×4, accelerates past to overtake.

The video then shows Mike R turning to face Mr Leaver when he catches up at the next set of traffic lights, before Mr Leaver pull over to the side of road to continue his argument.

Saying that the cyclist had been in the middle of the road and holding him up, Mr Leaver then tries to grab the camera off the cyclist’s helmet, before walking back to his car, also shouting abuse at an onlooker.
