How long 194.5km
IMPACT ON CLASSIFICATIONS
The last of the transition stages has a fourth category climb just 9km from the finish, which may be to the taste of a strong attacking rider who can also climb reasonably well. With the Alps looming, all of the favourites will be hiding away in the bunch to save their legs for the torrid days ahead.
? Digne makes its 12th appearance in the Tour, with the last being won by David Moncoutie in 2005.
? Eddy Merckx won a stage to Digne just five days after taking the yellow jersey. He retained the jersey till Paris and picked up a total of six stage wins to win his first Tour De France in 1969.
? Digne was first used by the Tour in 1933.
? Including 2008, the Tour has visited 594 different towns for starts and finishes.
