Kent time trial ace Steve Berry (Team Swift) sliced four seconds from the old course record as he rode to victory in the East Surrey Hardriders 29.9-mile event near Reigate on Sunday.
The 42-year-old from Aylesford clocked 1-05-57 to beat Wouter Sybrandy's old course record set last year, and it was enough to win the 2012 renewal of the event by exactly 30 seconds.
Experienced In Gear-Quickvit rider Pete Tadros took second spot with 1-06-27, while Kent Cycles' Will Mangar was third, another 39 seconds slower.
Tadros helped In Gear win the team prize as well as the veterans team prize.
There was also an impressive performance in North Yorkshire, where Pete Williams (Node 4-Giordana) won the Circuit of Ingleborough at Ingleton.
The 2010 winner of the event, Skipton-based Williams might have challenged Gethin Butler's long-standing record for that course, but temporary traffic lights appeared shortly before the event and it was cut from its usual distance of 27 miles to just 20.
Williams won by 3-23 from runner-up, Calum Nicholson (Team Wallis), an impressive margin by any standards but especially good given that the start and finish of the race was shrouded in thick fog.
Bath CC's Rob Pears continued his impressive start to the season with victory by almost a minute in the Gillingham and District Wheelers' 19-mile event at Bruton in Somerset on Saturday.
He clocked 42-43 to take the win, while Paul Jones (Bristol South CC) was second, 49 seconds adrift.
Scunthorpe Poly CC duo Julian Ramsbottom and Antony Nash secured a one-two in the Veterans TTA (North Midlands) 18km event at Ranby in North Nottinghamshire.
Ramsbottom clocked 22-16 to beat Nash by 51 seconds over the course to Barnby Moor and back, while Ian Dalton (Cherry Valley RT) took third, 25 seconds further back.
Ferryhill Wheelers' Keith Murray secured a 42-second victory in the Cleveland Wheelers' 21-mile event at Stokesley in North Yorkshire, the 37-year-old Darlington-based rider covering the course to Hutton Rudby and Great Boughton in 45-05 to push Team Jewson's Josh Teasdale into second place.
Elsewhere, North Devon Wheelers pair Blake Pond and Henry Benning led a one-two for the team in the St Austell Wheelers 20.7-mile event at Tresillian near Truro on Sunday.
Pond took the win with a time of 47-30, while Benning was second, 43 seconds slower and 2-50 ahead of the promoting club's own Gary Fouracres in third.
And near Wolverhampton there was a convincing win for James Ratcliffe (Fred Williams RT) in the Stourbridge Velo 22 at Halfpenny Green on Saturday.
He clocked 48-29 to win by 1:35 from Stourbridge Velo's Mark Hammond, whose team-mate Karl Moseley was third, another 49 seconds slower.
Elsewhere, David Nicholls (Chelmer CC) won the Eastern Counties CA 10 on Saturday with a time of 23:29 for the Leaden Roding course in Essex.
Alex Dowsett had entered the race, but was a non-starter due to the elbow injury he picked up in a race last weekend.
