Bradley Wiggins trains for Hour Record aboard track version of Pinarello Bolide

Microclip of Bradley Wiggins in training is posted by Pinarello on its Facebook page

With Bradley Wiggins’s Hour Record attempt at Lee Valley velodrome on June 7 now only a few days away, a video of him in training has been posted by Pinarello on its Facebook page. Shot in Manchester it shows Wiggins taking the back straight in a very empty looking velodrome.

At one second long the clip does not give a lot away, but the bike is clearly a track version of the Pinarello Bolide time trial bike that Wiggins had previously been using at Team Sky rather than one of Pinarello’s dedicated track frames or the British Cycling bike he was training on in April. We’re not sure what wheelset he’s riding but it looks like a Fizik Arione saddle.

Wiggins wears a gold helmet with visor which looks similar to the one he wore recently for his ten mile time trial ride in Hull. He is also wearing a British Olympic 2012 jersey – presumably he has a cupboardful at home, three-quarter length tights and Giro Empire shoes.

We’ve scratched our heads and raided the archives here at Cycling Weekly to try to extract any more info from the clip, but suffice to say except for the bike and the rider not much is likely to be the same come Sunday June 7.
