The Giro d’Italia has started, and the racing has been pretty frenetic already. We have seen a shake-up on the general classification that may have already set the podium, but not necessarily its order.
There have been questions from some quarters about Tinkoff-Saxo’s tactics with them riding hard on the front of the bunch on consecutive days. So far it has paid off as Alberto Contador finds himself wearing pink, although this may have been hindered by his crash at the end of stage six.
The pink jersey was an Australian affair until Contador took over, with Orica-GreenEdge passing it between three teammates on the first five stages. Their spell in the lead may have been expected to last longer had it not been for the blistering pace set by the GC teams, including Astana.
The Kazakh squad is pushing on after having the questions over its continuation on the WorldTour seemingly ended for now, and has placed Fabio Aru within touching distance of the overall lead.
With such an eventful week behind us, we look back at the goings on in this week’s cycling quiz.
