The Dubai Tour, which made its debut in February this year, has been reclassified by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to be a higher level race for next season.
The inaugural edition was ranked as a UCI 2.1 race, but next year’s edition will be UCI 2.HC – the highest level for a non-WorldTour event.

What this means is that the race can now accommodate more WorldTour teams on its start list, from 50 per cent to a maximum of 70 per cent.
This year’s edition of the race was won by Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing).
The 2015 Dubai Tour will run from February 4-7 and is organised by the company behind the Giro d’Italia, RCS Sport, in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.
