The people of Marlow in Buckinghamshire have agreed to go car-free for a day next Thursday, February 1. They are taking part in a Channel 4 television pilot documentary entitled ‘Change gear for a day’, to encouraging sustainable living.
The programme makers hit upon the idea of promoting cycling and walking for local journeys and then set about persuading the local council to back them.
Neil Wragg of local club High Wycombe CC is enthusiastic about the scheme and hopes to attract support from 100s of club cyclists.
Saddles Safari, a local cycle shop, plans to loan out bikes for towns people to use.
