Discovery Channel rider Yaroslav Popovych has signed to Belgian squad Predictor-Lotto for 2008.

Popovych was once touted as a successor to Lance Armstrong on Discovery Channel, and placed eighth in this year’s Tour de France. He has stage wins at the Tour, Paris-Nice and Tour de Georgia in his palmares, and came third in the 2003 Giro d’Italia. He was also 2001 Under-23 World Road Race Champion before turning pro in 2002.

Predictor-Lotto is the home of Aussie sprint star Robbie McEwen and Tour de France runner-up Cadel Evans.

Discovery Channel are disbanding at the end of the 2007 season due to lack of sponsorship, leaving all of its riders hunting for a 2008 contract.
