UCI President Pat McQuaid will officially present the new ?world? calendar for the 2009 season on Thursday at a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland.

Following the power struggle over the ProTour set-up, the ?big three? race organisers, ASO in France, RCS Sport in Italy and Unipublic in Spain, will still organise their own races but the new calendar will combine their races with the UCI?s ProTour races, making a combined, season-long calendar, that includes the biggest races in the sport.

The 2009 world calendar kicks off on January 20 with the Tour Down Under in Australia and ends on October 17 with the Giro di Lombardia.

The key changes to the calendar are the positioning of the Tour of Poland in early August instead of late September, following the demise of the Tour of Germany.

The only major race not part of the world calendar is the French end of season classic Paris-Tours. For 2009 the race is listed on the lower standard Europe Calendar and is scheduled for October 11.

The UCI are still working with the Russian Cycling Federation on the organisation of the Tour of Sochi and this race could be held in May.

The races are listed below with either the UPT (UCI ProTour) or HIS (Historic) abbreviation.
