Galimzyanov tests positive for EPO
Russian sprinter Denis Galimzyanov (Katusha) has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned performance-enhancing substance EPO (Erythropoietin).
He registered an Adverse Analytical Finding in an out-of-competition urine test on March 22.
25 year old Galimzyanov is seen as one of the up-and-coming sprinting talents in the peloton; he took his first win of the season at the opening stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe on April 3, before abandoning the next day after a crash, according to a team press release.
His most succesful spell came last year when he won four races, including Paris-Brussels and a Tour of Beijing stage.
Galimzyanov has the right to request the analysis of his B sample.
