Cornwall-based artist David Stansfield has released a range of limited edition cycling-themed prints to celebrate this year’s visit of the Tour de France to the UK.
David and his son Leon were actually featured in Cycling Weekly almost two years ago as people who had been inspired to take to their bikes while under the influence of the Wiggo Effect, following Brad’s 2012 Tour success.

At the time, professional artist David had told us he was astounded by the lack of cycling-inspired art, so he was resolved to do something about it. “I always tend to create work that reflects what is at the forefront of my mind, so I’ve started creating images of team cars with bikes on the roof,” he told us.
Fast-forward to today, with David and Leon still committed cyclists, the result is four beautifully created images of alternative Tour de France ‘team cars’.
There’s a classic Citroen H van or 2CV with road bikes aboard, a Morris Traveller with a hybrid on its roof, and David has even painted a Sky-branded Land Rover with carbon race bikes.
Each print is a limited edition of only 150 copies, all of which are signed and numbered. They are approximately 51cm x 28cm and are printed on a heavy mottled art paper. Cost per print is £65+P&P, with discounts on multiple purchases and trade prices available for galleries and cycle shops.
