Giro launches Livestrong collection

Giro has announced a collaboration with the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Four new special edition cycling helmets are to be launched in 2009 in the black and yellow Livestrong colour scheme.

Proceeds from the helmets are to go to the seven-time Tour de France winner?s charity, which raises awareness and funds to fight cancer.

Armstrong, who has used Giro?s products for the best part of 20 years, said: ?it’s another great symbol of what we should take more seriously when it comes to the cancer fight ? the idea of prevention. The simple act of putting on a helmet, just like we know not to smoke cigarettes, these are all preventative measures to help save lives, increase quality of life and ultimately make people feel happier and healthier.?

Available from April 1, the new Giro Livestrong helmet collection consists of the Ionos, Saros, Rift adult helmet models, and the Rodeo kids helmet.
