THE Shimano-owned PRO brand started out in the ProTour only last year, sponsoring Crédit Agricole and Rabobank and this year adds T-Mobile and Française des Jeux to the list. Thor Hushovd gave this Missile time trial bar a high-profile outing when he won the Tour de France prologue with it last year, beating all the specialists.

The Missile bar is an all-carbon monococque construction for 31.8mm oversized clamp only. Our sample set weighed 500g exactly.

Probably the bar?s key feature is the twist lock adjusters halfway along the extensions. These make it very straightforward to get the length right and, if you use the single bend extension version, the handhold position too. It?s not the most aerodynamic-looking system, but rest of the bar looks fast enough.

The armrests bolt directly to the base bar and there are two sets of holes drilled per rest for two width settings. The gel arm pads attach with Velcro and are of minimal thickness to help with an already very low stack height. Cable routing is internal and looks tidy enough. Width is 38cm and the Missile comes with single bend or straight extensions for £395.
