Shimano to provide clothing as well as components to LottoNL-Jumbo from 2017

Shimano steps up its existing relationship with the Dutch team

Shimano will be the clothing supplier to the LottoNL-Jumbo WorldTour team from 2017. Shimano says that it will be providing the team’s full range of clothing, as well as its eyewear.

Shimano’s shoes have recently been updated with the launch of the top-end S-Phyre, the brand’s first shoes to feature Boa closures, and the team will be wearing the S-Phyre RC9 shoes too.

It’s a further progression of Shimano’s relationship with LottoNL-Jumbo, as the team already ride Bianchi bikes equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace, while its time trial bikes run on wheels from Pro, Shimano’s components brand.

LottoNL-Jumbo’s Steven Kruijswijk led the 2016 Giro d’Italia for much of its final week before crashing.

“By providing LottoNL-Jumbo with a full range of performance clothing and footwear we are able to extend our head-to-toe strategy, maximising the performance of every component part of the bike and the rider,” says Shimano Europe Marketing director Richard Keeskamp.

Shimano says that it expects to use the clothing deal to further develop the technical features of its clothing.

It plans to use performance analysis and wind tunnel testing with the LottoNL-Jumbo riders to take its kit’s performance forward.

According to Richard Plugge, Managing Director of LottoNL-Jumbo: “This announcement is another proud moment in the successful history of LottoNL-Jumbo and Shimano.

“We are delighted to step up our relationship with one of the world’s biggest cycle companies, providing developmental guidance for Shimano apparel at the highest level.”

Shimano will also be selling its elite level cycling clothing to the general public through selected Shimano premium dealers.
