Tour de France bike: Lars Boom’s Giant TCR Advanced

With a new sponsor comes a new set of colours, so what was blue at the start of the year on the Blanco squad now becomes green for the Tour de France and the new sponsor of Belkin.

Belonging to Lars Boom, the Belkin Giant TCR Advanced SL is as smartly turned out as you’d expect for a rider of his class and talent.

Grabbed just 10 minutes before the start of the stage from Cagnes Sur Mer, we were a little surprised by his choice of wheels with a C50 in the rear and a shallow section C24 up front.

And as with other Shimano teams, Booms gets the full compliment of 11-speed equipment and Pro components on his TCR.

Boom is running a 120mm carbon Vibe stem and a rather old school looking set of ergo PLT carbon composite bars.

A rather chunky-looking bike computer had us scratching our heads a little as to why he was running the Pioneer unit, but we’ll have to find out more about it as the race goes on.

Pioneer head unit dominates the carbon cockpit.

A professional outfit they certainly are but the Belkin mechanics still like to use a little electrical tape to keep the cables tidy.

Is this kiss a fresh reminder from his wife or a tattoo, we weren’t too sure.
