After a raft of competition records fell last weekend, the fast riders are on the hunt again this weekend with some mouth-watering events on the schedule.
Sunday will see Michael Hutchinson, Julia Shaw, Sarah Storey among the 300 riders taking part in the open 20km time trial on closed roads around the grounds of Blenheim Palace, as part of the Oxfordshire stately home’s cycling festival.

Another interesting event is the North Hampshire Road Club 25 on Saturday, which uses the H25/8 course at Bentley.
Sky Pro Cycling ace Alex Dowsett is scratch man in the event which has attracted UTAG Yamaha.com team-mates Julian Jenkinson and Stephen Whitewick, while others who are capable of challenging for the podium include Paul Holdsworth (Hounslow and District Wheelers) and Sebastian Ader (a3crg).
A big field of 107 riders have entered the Chronos Racing Team 10-mile event on the F2a/10 course at Caldecote in Cambridgeshire.
With the village’s hall being HQ, the course has attracted a mixed field and it is hard to call, but among the top few should be Jon Surtees (Team Swift), the evergreen former multiple national champion Ian Cammish (Planet X), and Gabriel Martinez (VC Meudon).
After setting a new personal best for the distance last week at the age of 41, Sportscover rider Kevin Dawson will be hoping to make the most of a rich vein of form when he tackles the South Elmsall SCC 10 in Nottinghamshire on Saturday.
Using the O10/3 course and having Ranby Village Hall as event headquarters, the event has attracted virtually a full field, with multiple British Best All-Rounder Dawson looking likely to start as favourite.
But one of his main challengers looks set to be Richard Bradley, the I Ride Racing Team member who was one third of the team which set a new team competition record in the Derby Mercury RC 25 last weekend.
His team-mate at I Ride, Julian Ramsbottom, will also be chasing a podium spot, while Simon Beldon (Team Swift) could challenge too.
The following day, the Eastern Counties CA 12-hour has attracted some class riders eager to show their prowess at the event seven days after the national title race.
Having chosen to ride the CC Breckland 12-hour event instead of the national champs, Jeff Jones (Chippenham and District Wheelers) must’ve been pleased with his decision having set a new competition record for the distance.
But can he better it in the ECCA event this Sunday?
Also going for victory will be Nik Bowdler (Team Pedal Revolution.co.uk). And having warmed up with the North Hampshire 25 on Saturday, Julian Jenkinson (UTAG Yamaha.com) will be aiming to replicate the form which secured third spot in the national 12 last weekend.
Finally, there is yet another event on the superfast V718 course in East Yorkshire, this time Yorkshire Velo are promoting the event which uses a course being targeted by almost anyone wanting a fast 10 time.
And also set to attract a quality field is the Welsh 10-mile Championship on the A40 Hardwick to Raglan course, which is being promoted by Pontypool RCC.
