The iconic pink overall leader’s jersey – maglia rosa – was modelled by Italian actress Giorgia Wurth, who was accompanied on stage by Farnese Vini pro Filippo Pozzato and later by former world champion and multi-Grand Tour stage winner Mario Cipollini.

One major change is the new blue mountains classification jersey. This replaces the former green jersey of previous years.
The red points classification and white best young rider classification jerseys remain the same.
The 2012 Giro d’Italia kicks off in Denmark on May 5 and finishes in Milan three weeks later on May 27.
