Where are we?
Having skipped the city for the past two years, the Giro returns to its usual endpoint of Milan. Heaven knows what the local fashionistas will make of some of the jerseys in the peloton — we can’t see Ag2r’s brown shorts making an appearance on Milanese catwalks any time soon.
What’s on the route?
Not only is this a first final day visit to Milan since 2012, it’s also the first circuit-based finish here since 2007.
In recent years, the Giro has concluded with a short time trial, which has kept the racing competitive right up until the race’s final kilometre, and even led to a handover of the pink jersey in 2012 from Joaquim Rodríguez to Ryder Hesjedal.
There’s no chance of that happening on today’s pan-flat stage, but there will still be some action in the form of a bunch sprint finish and the resolution of the points jersey.
